What are professional development credits?

They are graduate-level credits offered typically to educators to acquire skills and knowledge for the purpose of re-certification and/or career advancement.

Do I need to be admitted as a student at Idaho State University?

No. Our courses do not count towards a degree, although many do count towards re-certification.

If I’m enrolled in a professional development course, how do I register for credit?

You will receive a Professional Development Registration Form with instructions from your course instructor/coordinator. One (1) credit will cost $55, although there may be additional fees associated with certain professional development courses. Full attendance is mandatory for the duration of course and completion of assignments (if applicable) is required in order to receive full credit.

What if I miss the registration deadline?

Registration deadlines are firm. If you fail to adhere to the registration deadline set forth by the Registrar and the Albion Center for Education Innovation, you will not be able to enroll and receive credit. Registration forms received after the established registration deadline will not be accepted.

Do you offer reduced rates?

Yes. There are a few ways you can take professional development courses at a reduced rate:

  • Reduced Fee Voucher- If you have a reduced fee voucher, you may use these only on 5597/4497 courses, they cannot be used on 5598P/4498P courses. For more information on reduced fee vouchers, please contact Field Experience at 282-2783.
  • Senior Citizen- If you are a senior citizen (60+) taking 5597 professional development courses, you may do so at a reduced rate by providing a copy of your driver’s license with your registration form.
  • Employee and Spouse Reduction Benefit- As a degree seeking employee and/or spouse of an Idaho State University employee, you are eligible for the reduced tuition benefit. It is the student’s responsibility to complete the Employee and Spouse Tuition Reduction Benefit Form and have it approved prior to professional development enrollment in order to receive the reduced rate. Is there a limit on how many credits I can earn?

Yes. You may only enroll for a maximum of seven (7) professional development credits per semester. Credits are not retro activated nor can they be placed in upcoming semesters for previous course completion.

What is your cancellation policy?

Our professional development courses are graduate-level and are already offered at a reduced rate. Submission of the credit registration form constitutes a commitment to the course. Once your registration and payment has been received and processed, no refunds will be issued.

Who do I contact for BengalWeb access?

You will need to contact the IT Service Desk for any login/password related issues and/or questions at 282-4357.

How do I get a certificate of completion?

You will need to contact the instructor of course who will be able to provide a certificate of completion upon your request. Or, you may complete the Idaho State Department of Education form Verification of College/University Course Content (Form B13) and acquire signatures needed to verify the recertification/renewal credits completed.

How will I know what grade I received?

You will need to obtain a transcript to verify what grade was posted by the instructor. All courses are either S (satisfactory) or U (unsatisfactory). Grades are final once posted on your transcript. No credits are awarded for any course in which a U (unsatisfactory) is earned.

How do I request a transcript?

Visit trascripts.isu.edu. It is best to wait and request your transcript after semester grading has closed to ensure all grades and credits have been posted to the official transcript. The cost is $7.50 for an official transcript.
