Research & Publications

The Intermountain Center for Education Effectiveness (ICEE) at Idaho State University conducts ongoing research to determine the potential of the Idaho TIA project and its effectiveness in bringing about increased student achievement.

Survey results from the most recent Working Conference (June 2012) indicate that Idaho educators believe in the effectiveness of Idaho TIA as a framework and a process which can positively support implementation of the CCSS into classroom instruction and untimately, student achievement.

The following documents were produced by researchers in the ICEE. Each study provides important research findings regarding the Idaho TIA process as it is being implemented:

Latest Research Findings

A survey was conducted following the June 2010 and the June 2011 Working Conferences at ISU - Pocatello. The participants included 304 Idaho educators from 19 school districts in 2010; and 551 Idaho educators from 43 school districts in 2011:

Number of Participants Number of School Districts
Pocatello 2010 304 19
Pocatello 2011 447 30
Meridian 2011 104 13

The survey revealed the following promising results:

  • • Idaho teachers plan to increase implementation of Idaho TIA in their classrooms.
  • • Idaho teachers believe that Idaho TIA will improve PK-12 teaching through:
    • o Increased clarity of state standards.
    • o Use of state standards to plan instruction and design assessment.
    • o Increased consistency of implementation.
    • o Increased alignment of standards, curriculum, instruction and assessment.
  • • Idaho teachers desire the following supports for CCSS implementation through Idaho TIA:
    • o More time to become familiar upon the CCSS;
    • o More opportunity to discuss and collaborate with colleagues regarding the integration of the CCSS into instructional practice; and
    • o More in-service training focused on how to unpack the CCSS and on how to apply the CCSS to actual classroom instruction and assessment design.
