PARTICIPANT DISCLAIMER

Total Instructional Alignment is a process that has proven to be a key strategy in creating high achieving classrooms, schools and school districts. The Total Instructional Alignment process is comprehensive: From Standards to Student Success!  It includes alignment of standards, curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

The hands-on, integrative process assists teachers and administrators in developing an in-depth understanding of the alignment process: What it means, why it is important for all students, what it looks like in schools and in individual classrooms, and most importantly, how to achieve it in every school and in every classroom.

Because the TIA process is comprehensive, integrated, and hands-on, student achievement within and among districts, schools, and individual educators who have NOT participated in formal TIA training is at risk.  Although increased student achievement is being found in classrooms where TIA is implemented and followed, it is important to understand that training on, and participation in, the PROCESS is fundamental to its success. TIA is a process, not a product!

Total Instructional Alignment: Facilitator Training
April 11-12, 2012 - University of Idaho, Student Union, Moscow, ID
This two-day training will focus on the identification and development of educators from each participating school district to serve as TIA coordinators/facilitators. A minimum of two trained facilitators per building is recommended; however, school districts may elect to have as many as two per content area and/or grade level.

Total Instructional Alignment: Working Conference
July 9-13, 2012 - University of Idaho, Student Union, Moscow, ID
This five-day working conference is designed to be hands-on and integrative. Ultimately, the process of creating aligned grade-level (PK-12) and content area documents, which can be used by all teachers in each participating district, will be continued. These TIA documents are the culmination of the alignment process: state standards, task analysis, vocabulary, sheltered instruction objectives and strategies, curriculum resources, and assessment.
