Masters of Education in Human Exceptionality, School Psychological Examiner (M.Ed.)
The Master of Education in Human Exceptionality, School Psychological Examiner (M.Ed.) degree is designed to strengthen the candidate’s understanding, knowledge, and skills in three major areas: Professional Studies, Specialty Studies, and Integrative Field Research Studies, as they relate to human exceptionality.
The M.Ed. Program provides the necessary foundation for the Ed.S. degree program, therefore, successful completion of the M.Ed. degree is a prerequisite to enrollment into the Educational Specialists, School Psychology degree.
Requirements for Admission into the M.Ed. Program:
- A Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited in the United States or its equivalent from a school in another country.
- Grade point average of 3.0 or higher for all upper division credits taken at the undergraduate level.
- A Score of 38 or above on the Miller Analogies test OR score at the 35th percentile or above on one of the sections of the Graduate Record Examination (Verbal,
- Quantitative, Analytical/Analytical Writing) See the Graduate Catalog for further information.
- Submission of all required admission forms and application fee to the Office of Graduate Studies.
PLEASE NOTE:
Transfer Credits: As per Graduate School Policy, not more than nine (9) semester credit hours may be transferred from a previous accredited graduate degree program. The only allowable transfer courses are approved graduate-level courses in Research and Writing, Applied Educational Statistics, and Theories of Learning (or the equivalent as determined by the school psychology faculty).
Course Substitutions: Course substitutions from previous accredited graduate degree programs are rare. All substituted courses must be approved by the school psychology faculty, must be graduate-level courses, and must come from an accredited university or college. Because approved course substitutions only replace course content, not hours, the M.Ed. degree time requirement for program completion remains the same.
