1. Supervision Assistant (2 positions requested)
Position Description/Requirements:
The Supervision Assistant assists special education faculty with supervision of undergraduate practicum students and undergraduate student teaching internship. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Traveling to local schools to perform observations of students as they interact with children
- Providing students with written and verbal feedback regarding their instruction
- Assisting in making practicum placements and maintaining good relationships with school administrators
- Meeting with Special Education faculty to learn supervision procedures and to review student progress
- Assist Special Education faculty members with general program management (e.g., maintaining program listserv, maintaining program website, gathering data from program review)
Academic/Technical Skills Required
Individuals interested in this position should have experience working with children in classroom or other settings and/or experience supervising classroom personnel. The ability to build and maintain a positive rapport with students and to deliver constructive feedback with a positive tone is a must. A good working knowledge of computer programs, such as word processing (Microsoft Word), e-mail, and spreadsheets (Excel) is required. Skills in web page development and listserv management are desired. Dependability and reliability, flexibility, good organizational skills, and a willingness to learn new things are required.
Learning Experiences Provided
Individuals working in this position can expect to gain experience in supervising classroom personnel, refining performance-based evaluation protocols, and working collaboratively with community agencies/schools.
Dates of Employment: This is a 9-month appointment
Stipend: Master’s level $9,127.60; Doctoral level $11,924.40 (Plus health insurance)
Tuition: Students receive full tuition reimbursement
Other: Students are provided with computer

2. Research Assistant
Position Description/Requirements:
This person will assist the principal investigator and project coordinator on a Choice Making grant project. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct experimental sessions at an assigned research site (which will include travel to project sites in Blackfoot, Pocatello, and/or Minidoka county)
- Scoring videotaped data from that site
- Collect interobserver agreement data for experimental sessions
- Assist with dissemination of project results (which may require travel inside and outside of Idaho)
Academic/Technical Skills Required
Individuals interested in this position should have prior work experience with children who have disabilities and problem behavior, including children with autism and physical disabilities. Skills in conducting functional analyses and reinforcement-based interventions for problem behavior are desired. Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, data collection software, digital video editing also desired. Excellent personal interaction skills, dependability, and a strong work ethic required. Willingness to travel essential.

Individuals working in this position can expect to gain experience in supervising personnel, conducting professional presentations, and publishing with the principal investigator and project coordinator. Individuals can also expect to gain experience in data collection and research methodology.

Travel: Some travel money is provided to support conference travel

3. Saturday School Administrator
Position Description/Requirements:
The Saturday School Supervisor is responsible for conducting Saturday School sessions with children and for overseeing the practicum experiences for students making Saturday School observations. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate the Saturday School program for 12 children with and without disabilities. Saturday School takes place on 13 Saturdays during each semester from 9 am to 1 pm.
- Purchase food and materials, organize the educational plan for each Saturday, and arrange the rooms for instruction.
- Organize undergraduate students to attend two sessions of Saturday School—a 2-hour observation session and a 2-hour teaching session.
- Assist with the SPED 350 and SPED 355 courses—provide instruction, participate in course development, and create course materials.
- Assist Special Education faculty members with general program management (e.g., maintaining program listserv, maintaining program website, gathering data from program review)
Academic/Technical Skills Required
Individuals interested in this position should have prior work experience with children who have disabilities, including children with autism and physical disabilities. Individuals must have experience in working with children who have challenging behaviors and an understanding of positive behavior supports. Experience working with families of children with disabilities is encouraged. Prior work/volunteer experience in a school setting is desired.
Learning Experiences Provided
Individuals working in this position can expect to gain experience in teaching undergraduate students about various disabilities and how to interact with children with disabilities. Individuals will also learn to monitor the performance of undergraduate students during observation and teaching sessions. Individuals will also gain experience in working with faculty to develop and refine course content (SPED 350/355).
