Required Praxis II: Subject Assessment Tests
1. What is Praxis II?
The Praxis II tests are a series of achievement tests that assess subject-matter knowledge and principles of learning and teaching. The Idaho State Board of Education requires all candidates recommended for State of Idaho teacher certification to meet qualifying scores on the Praxis II Subject Area Test(s) in their teaching field(s). 2. Why do I need to take it?
You must take and pass the require Praxis II test(s) in your major and your minor teaching areas prior to student teaching. You must also take and pass the required Praxis II test(s) for any additional endorsement areas for which you wish to be recommended at the time certification.
3. How do I register for it?
You can register online at the Praxis Series Web Site at www.ets.org/praxis using a credit card OR pick up The Praxis Series Bulletin available at ISU Counseling & Testing (Gravely Hall) and complete the mail-in registration form. Allow 3 weeks for processing. Testing and registration dates are available from ISU Counseling & Testing (see related link to the Counseling & Testing Web page). The attending institution code for Idaho State University students is ISU #A4355. Important score recipient codes are ISU #R4355, Idaho Department of Education #R8636.
