Praxis I Frequently Asked Questions
1. Where do I sign up for the Praxis I? Where will I take the Praxis I?
ISU Counseling and Testing Center, Gravely Hall , Building 15, 3rd floor.
2. How often is the Praxis I offered at the Testing Center?
Daily: Monday - Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. The Schedule for summer hours may vary slightly. Please call the Counseling and Testing Center at 282-2130 for more information.
3. Should I call ahead to make a reservation to take the exam?
Yes. You do need to schedule an appointment to take the exam. Please call (208) 282-4907.
4. How much does it cost to take the Praxis I?
Option A: Take one section at a time. Two hours allowed per section. $130.00. $80.00 to retake a section. $105.00 to retake two sections.
5. What if I can't afford the cost of the exam?
If you have a demonstrated financial need, you can apply for a fee waiver. Contact Educational Testing Service (ETS) for more information.

6. If I have a documented disability may I receive accommodations for taking the Praxis I?
Yes. Again, contact ETS directly at the above website.
7. How long will it take for me to receive my official scores?
You will receive your reading and math scores in the email within 2-4 weeks. The writing score usually takes 4-6 weeks. Give yourself a six week window from the time you take your tests to the application deadline to ensure you will have received all three scores.
8. What are the minimum scores I must receive in order to pass?

9. Can I petition for an exception if I do not meet the minimum scores?
Yes. You may petition if your scores are three points or less below the minimum requirement. See an advisor immediately if you are unsure as to whether or not you should complete a petition or schedule a retake.
