ITPA-Idaho Technology Portfolio Assessment
Effective July 2007
(see STATE BOARD APPROVED TEMPORARY RULES),
the Technology Competency Assessment is no longer a certification requirement.
What is the ITPA?
The State Board of Education has established a statewide goal that certificated personnel be trained in the use of technology in education. Toward that end, the State Board has created a policy which provides recognition, encouragement, and documentation of demonstrated competencies for educators and school districts by certificates of achievement and by school accreditation.
The Idaho Technology Portfolio Assessment is one of the options by which certificated personnel in Idaho may demonstrate basic technology competency. The assessment is based on the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) guidelines for the integration of technology into teaching and learning. Certification Personnel may choose one of the other state approved alternatives, but ISU students cannot choose the other options.
The Idaho Technology Portfolio consists of eight required entries, each of which asks for direct evidence of the educator's accomplishments relative to the ISTE standards. Documentation of the use of technology in teaching and learning serves as the focus of the portfolio and the source of required entries. Specific products in the areas of word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, and communication tools; student work samples; evaluation of software; and documentation of troubleshooting strategies comprise the entries of the portfolio.
