Requirements for Elementary Education Standard Certificate Only

1. Admission to Teacher Education Program (some requirements may be waived by petition).
2. Completion of the Professional Education Core.
3. Completion of the Elementary Education Professional Courses.
4. Completion of an emphasis area.

Requirements for Secondary Certification Only

1. Admission to Teacher Education Program (some requirements may be waived by petition).
2. Completion of the Professional Education Core.
3. Completion of Secondary Education Required Course
   (EDUC 4401, Content Area Literacy, 3 cr).
4. Completion of a subject teaching major of at least 30 semester credit hours, as recommended by the subject department and approved by the College of Education, and a subject teaching minor of at least 20 semester credit hours, as recommended by the subject department and approved by the College of Education, OR completion of a single subject teaching major of at least 45 semester credit hours as recommended by the subject department and approved by the College of Education.
